Description:We ask ate TIkkay to interview Lorenzo, the barangay chieftain, who decides to introduce himself without waiting for Ate Tikkay’s questions. As far as he can remember, the work on rattan was their main source of income, and explains that now they work again on rattan. According to him there are 38 Alta families living in the two adjacent barangays of Villa and Dimani. However, Lorenzo is concerned with the fact that very few children are able to speak the language, and that they need to protect the Alta culture. Later Lorenzo explains that they got the land where they live at from the government, as a result of the IPRA law. (Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act of 1997). According to him, there are two ethnical groups that are prioritary in Aurora province, the Alta and the Ilongot.
