| This is the introduction to the basic level Indian Sign Language course. The purpose and organization of the course is first explained, then the project team members introduce themselves (these are the only short segments where other signers appear on the video, but they are not mentioned as "actors" because these video segments are minimal). This is followed by a 30-minute lecture about the nature of sign language, where various "wrong beliefs" about the nature of sign languages are rectified. General information about the sign language used in India is also given as far as was known at the time of recording. The revised version is substantially different from this one, and almost the whole lecture part was refilmed and new information added. There is English voiceover throughout. | ||
