| Description: | This session was recorded at Beltar VDC, Puma line-1. In this session, MR the priest (ŋapoŋ) perfoms a ritual called Phagu, which is one of the most important festivals. The first part of the ritual is called sayadotma in their mother tongue. | |
| In this recording the ritual ceremony named the sayadotma performed as part of the Phagu spring ritual in the month of Baisakh (April-May). The priest (ŋapoŋ) has to perform a rite in the morning for the fireplace in the house. The ritual is done in the name of the ancestors. This is the first part of the rite inside the house. The second part takes place outside. | ||
| Puma native language is used in this session. The Puma conversational language is not used in this session. Instead, the mundhum language is used in this ritual. | ||
| Mr MR is one of the famous priests (ŋapoŋ) in Beltar VDC. He has the good knowledge of the Puma culture and the language.The Puma team has recorded many more sessions with him. | ||
| MR is a priest 'ngapong' of the Puma community. He is from Devisthan-3, his clan is Hadira He is our main consultant for rituals and cultural information and recording. Being a priest he is well respected in the community. | ||
