Description:This Project wants to investigate how second language learners of German express and qualify the relation between the topic and the predicative part of their utterances. The most straightforward relation is a speaker's assertion that some predicate holds for the topic. In native German this is achieved through morpho-syntactic finiteness marking. This assertive relation can be made more informative with the help of particles and adverbials: yes in addition to x; yes and not for the first time; yes perhaps, etc. Some of the elements that can semantically enrich the assertive function of finiteness have been shown to be its precursors in early stages of acquisition. It is the intention of this project to further investigate the interplay of finiteness and scope particles in acquisition. To this aim, nnarrative production were elicited with the help of a stimulus clip designed in order to systematically elicit all sorts of qualified assertions (contrastive, additive, continuative, repetitive, negative).
This file was generated from an IMDI 1.9 file and transformed to IMDI 3.0. The substructure of Genre is replaced by two elements named "Genre" and "SubGenre". The original content of Genre substructure was: Interactional = '', Discursive = '', Performance = ''. These values have been added as Keys to the Content information.
Data from an elicited production task based on a stimulus film clip ("The Finite Film", see info files). This stimulus consists of a sequence of short episodes. Participants are first shown a couple of introductory scenes which are accompanied by comments of the experimenter (see info files). They then watch the following episodes one by one and produce a short narration after every episode.
The session is recorded on flashram. After creating wav and cha files the flashrams are deleted. There is no archive with flashrams with sessions on it.
