Waima'a is an endangered Austronesian language spoken in the Baucau district of East Timor. Goal of project is as comprehensive a documentation of communicative events and linguistic metaknowledge as possible. For further details on scope and format of documentation see link below.
Poster first filmed in house of Aleixo on 31 July 2005, second time 11 August 2005 in house of head of aldeia in Osowaa, Waisaa on both occasions, not all fish on the poster could be named in Waima'a

rudimentary knowledge of Tetum and Portuguese
native of Caisido, lives in Baucau since 199 6 kids (one SMA katolika, one SMP) was in Jakarta in 1996 knows Waima’a, Tetun, Makasae, Malay (switches often between Malay and tetun), and some Portguese (claims himself that he hardly speaks it, but can converse with Portuguese and Brazilians claims that his own children don't learn W very well but mostly tetun Status as village head before 2005 not quite clear - was village head in Indonesian times and was still widely regarded village head of Tirilolo after independence in 2002 although he was not officially elected or appointed at the time, clear winner of elections in March/April 2005
