| Description: | ENGLISH: Women of the Boa Esperança village prepare decoration for a dance. First, a young woman makes a female belt (used during festivities) from natural fibers. Next, a woman paints her daughter. At the end of the recording, another young woman is painted (the painting in her leg is almost completed). In this video, we can see the techniques used in the body painting. The recording was made by a Trumai young man. ----- PORTUGUÊS: Mulheres da aldeia Boa Esperança preparam decoração para uma dança. | The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc. | ||

| Several people participate in this session. They live at the Boa Esperança village. At the end of the session, a Trumai woman (Speaker12) briefly talks about a body painting that is being performed. | ||
| Raquel is a Brazilian linguist. She has been working with the Trumai people since 1989. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University (Houston, Texas, U.S.A). | ||
| Speaker12 is a native speaker of Trumai. Both her parents were Trumai. She and her brother are the last descendents of the Awaldat group, a Trumai subdivision that used to speak a different dialect of the language. However, this dialect seems to have disappeared (Speaker12's way of speaking is similar to the way of speaking of the other Trumai individuals). Her late husband was Kayabi. She lives with her son and daughter-in-law and has several grandchildren. She is middle-aged (50 or more). | ||
