| In this session the consultants talk about old Marquesan customs and beliefs such as the role of beauty during courting, taboos towards women (canoe, walking over bodies etc.). During the session they talk about a specific place of courting at Hakau'i and its customs. Towards the end of the session they about the legend of Keikahanui and Paevao, the little sister of Keikahanui's wife. | ||
| TB grew up on Nuku Hiva, but have been living on 'Ua Pou since she turned 17. TB is a fluent bilingual often engaging in French-Marquesan code-switching. In cultural indigenous matters TB was well educated by her father who was born in 1901 and who was very knowledgable about old Marquesan customs, songs, stories etc.. | ||
| LK is very knowledgable with respect to the local history in the early European contact period. She also knows details and stories connected with Hakau'i, her home valley. She seems to know little French only. | ||
| Tau only knows little French. He lives in Hakau'i where there is no electricity, in a small community of around 10 people. Tau used to work for the parish before his retirement. | ||
| GC is responsable for the Marquesan DOBES project and does all the data collection, data processing and annotation. | ||
