Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch.
The boy is shown photos of 5 boys with different ethnic backgrounds. Dorian de Haan asks him questions about which boy he looks like, which boy he would like to be, which boy his parents/school teacher/friends think he is most similar too, which boy he doesn't really like etc.
Dorian de Haan is the coordinator/collector of this project. She is of Dutch origin. She works at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, at the Developmental Psychology department.

In 1980 he went with his family back for a short vacation. His parents are divorced (3 years ago). He is the oldest and has a younger sister (5). His mother is unemployed, as well as his father. A couple of years ago his father had an accident at his work side. The tops of his fingers were cut off. At home he speaks mostly Dutch, although sometimes he speaks Surinamese with his mother. His sister doesn't want to speak it, but she understands it. He prefers to speak Dutch. With his friends and cousins he speaks Dutch. According to him Surinamese isn't difficult. He is in the last form of primary school and wants to go to horticultural school next year. His best friend is Henk (Sarnami Hindustani). Same boy in 6A, 6B, 6D, 8E, 9C, 18Q, 30B & 32B.
