| Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch. | ||
| For this task the child needs to read a short article and has to answer questions about it. Dorian de Haan talks about the short article with the child. The topics are: - agriculture - how people used to live - industrializing, migration to urban centers - growth of The Hague | ||
| Dorian de Haan is the coordinator/collector of this project. She is of Dutch origin. She works at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, at the Developmental Psychology department. | ||
| Sandra is of Sarnami Hindustani origin and was born in Suriname. She was 3 when she came to the Netherlands in 1975. At home they sometimes speak Sarnami. Sandra doesn't like to speak Sarnami, because she is afraid to make mistakes. With her grandmother (who lives with her family) she always speaks Sarnami. Her mother works at school (unclear whether she is a teacher). Her sister Moniek goes to secondary school. Since a couple of weeks she takes a Hindi language class. Her favorite subject at school is Biology, but she doesn’t like geography. According to her the subject language is easy. Same girl as in 18J, 18K, 28E, 29A, 30C & 34B. | ||
