Description:		ENGLISH: Myth of the Trumai oral tradition, named "Kamukwaka". The myth talks about the Kamukwaka people, who were very pretty. The Sun and the Moon try to kill them, because they are jealous of their beauty. They send a snake to swallow the Kamukwakas, who run away to the sky and become spirits. ----- PORTUGUÊS: Mito da tradição oral Trumai, chamado "Kamukwaka". O mito fala sobre as pessoas do povo Kamukuwaka, que eram muito bonitas. O Sol e a Lua tentam acabar com elas, por inveja da beleza delas. Mandam uma cobra para engolir os Kamukwakas, que fogem para o céu e viram espíritos.
		The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc.

		Speaker1 was a native speaker of Trumai. He was considered the best storyteller of the Trumai people. He was also an expert in ritual chants, being very respected by other Xinguan groups. He had knowledge about medicinal plants and roots, and shamanism practices. He was old (above 70) when the died in 1995.
		Raquel is a Brazilian linguist. She has been working with the Trumai people since 1989. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University (Houston, Texas, U.S.A).
