| The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country. | ||
| Bishnu talks about herself and her family. She also recalls her school and college life. | ||
| The whole session is in Chintang. However, there are very few lexical items borrowed from Nepali as well. | ||
| Bishnukala Rai plays the role of consultant and Netra Prasad Paudyal is collector of this session. There were no other observers present. | ||
| I completed Masters Degree in Linguistics from Tribhuvan University, and currently working as a Research Assistant in the (DOBES) project. I am in charge of Linguistic works and analysis. | ||
| Bishnukala Rai is a native speaker of Chintang language. Both of her parents are chintang. She is a sister of one of our consultant named Lokendra. | ||
