Description: | This session was recordrd at CIsapani VDC, Pathivara-7,Khotang district. In this session, the bride side is demanding the bridegroom. The kongpi Lekpa from the bride groom side and Phengma from the bride side are talking to each in the Puma mundhum language and there is a particular kind of the things to be offered to the bridegroom and the other members. | |
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country. | ||
In this session, the ritual performer Mr CBR and GBR are performing a ritual. In this session, he has said about the demand of power and good command of the Puma mundhum language. | ||
Puma language is used in this session. It is also used Nepali language in some situation. | ||
GBR and CBR are the shamans from Cisapani VDC, Pathivara-7, Khotang district. Their clan is Thumrahang. | ||
Mr Cakra Bahadur Rai is one of the young energetic person who is also a Puma shaman. | ||
GBR is the settler of Puma area, i.e. Cisapani VDC. He is also a shaman and perform the ritual ceremonies in the village. | ||
He is the research assistant for ethnography in the Puma team. | ||
