Description:This is the session of Yupung of Yupuchung Rai of Chintang. This is recorded by GB in Chintang.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.
This is about the way of worshipping. This texts reflects the astrological situation, avoiding bad star. The people try to know thier own horoscope.
Mostly chintang language is used in this text.

Nakuma Rai is one of the hosts of Yupung. She is the wife of Jaya Bahadur Rai.
Jaya Bahadur is the host of yupung. The Yupung was organized in his home. He is Yopuchung, a clan of Bantawa Rai. He facilitates child recording as well.
Ram Bahadur Rai is the eldest brother of Jaya Bahadur Rai.
Lakh Bahadur Rai is the youngest brother of Jaya Bahadur Rai.
Sudhra Man is a neighbour of Jaya Bahadur Rai. He tells mundhum in the Yupung.
Man Kumari is 2nd daughter of Jaya Bahadur Rai. She assists us as a local assistant as well.
Ram Prasad Rai is a neighbour of Jaya Bahadur Rai.
