| Description: | Web versions of three maps produced to illustrate how the !Xoon people gradually moved to the north and east with the opening up of the Aminuis Native Reserve for Herero people from 1921 onwards and the surrounding freehold farm land for commercial farmers. Another set of maps (see Session TWanthrGB071024-01) covers only the current communal area of Aminuis and the Corridor. The information represented on the maps was offered by a group of five !Xoon men who were the main informants on history, former land use patterns and cultural mapping. The maps present the information inscribed on the land for the periods of about (a) the 1920s through 1930s, (b) the 1930s through 1940s, (c) the 1950s through 1970s. | |
