Description:This is the 4th session of the 11th monthly recording cycle of the child4 Man Kumar for the study 'Child Language Development'.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.http://www.cpdp.uzh.ch
Man Kumar and Bisal (Kuluke) sing Nepali song and they dance.
The conversation is in Chintang language in general. Man Kumar and bishal sing Nepali songs.
Man Kumar is our target child, chandra, Ilu and Indra are his elder sisters, Khel is their neighbour and our local assistant. Goma is the collector and the annotator of this session.
Khel Bahadur is the elder brother of Khem. He is the second child of his parents. He is a student. He studies in class 5. Sometimes he also assists in child language recording. He is the son of Kamala's maternal uncle and neighbour of all our target children. He is also called 'Khele' in his family and in his neighbourhood.
Man Kumar is one the target children in our recording. He is called 'maila' in hisfamily as he is the second son of his parents. He is the fifth child of his parents. He has 6 siblings. The child is very active, most of the time he plays with children.
Indra Kumari is also called 'Bhotu'. She is the elder sister of the child, Man Kumar. She is the fourth child of her parents. She is also a daughter of Saphal's mother's elder sister. She is a student. She reads in class 1.

Chandra is called 'thuli' by her family members and her neighbours. She is the eldest sister of Man Kumar. She is a student. She is studying in grade 10 in school. She also helps her parents in household works and in farming.
Ilu is also called Mansu. She is the elder sister of Man Kumar. She is also a daughter of Saphal's mother's elder sister. She is the third child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class 3. She helps her parents taking care of her younger siblings and in their household works.
