Description:This is an interesting sad story. The whole story is concentrated on a serious matter regarding the death of a young guy. It was one of our first recordings made on our request in Dhankuta.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote, Devisthan and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.http://www.cpdp.uzh.ch
RM narrates this story. This is a real story that she faced in her life. In this story, she describes the death of a young guy who was her brother's friend and was also very close to her family. When, where and how the young man died - is narrated in this session.
The whole story is in Chintang. But she also borrows some words from Bantawa and Nepali as well. As she is an educated girl holding Bachelor's degree she aslo uses few English words.
Rikhi Maya Rai is the one who narrated this story. Goma recorded and Netra annotated this session.
