Description:This is the 2nd session of the 5th recording cycle of child2, Dipkala for the study 'The Day in the Life of'.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.http://www.cpdp.uzh.ch
Here is some intraction between Dipkala and Chandrakala. Dipkala walks here and there with a stick, she plays ball using bottlegurd. She follows her aunt Chandrakala.
All the speakers speak Chintang language in general.
Dipkala is the target child, Maya Devi is her mother, Chandrakala is her mother's elder sister, Goma is the collector and the annotator of this session.
Chandrakala Rai is the mother's elder sister of Dipkala. She is unmarried and stays in her parents' home. Most often she takes care of Dipkala.
Maya Devi Rai is the mother of Dipkala, the target child in the study, Child Language Acquisition.
