| The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. | This is the second ritual in a series of offerings held at the house of the chambak (shaman) on the second day of the Wadhangmi festival. | ||
| The language used is Chintang ritual language, a particular register of ancestral speech. | ||
| The chambak invited the team to record this session in his house and courtyard. | ||
| He is member of the Tuprihang clan. Like his younger brother BBR he is a Chambak, i.e. a tribal shaman, who goes into trance during certain occasions. | ||
