Description:This is the 2nd session of the 9th monthly recording cycle of the child1, Khem for the Child Language Development study.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote, Devisthan and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Khem eats noodles and gives to his elder sister, Devi too. Khem, elder brother Ram, elder girl and mother in the background. K. and the other boy are eating snacks, girl handels laundry. They play around on the verandy (the elder boy with with 2 sticks). A woman comes along and talks to Khem.

Khem is the target child, Ram, Devi and Indra are his elder siblings, Puspa is their neighbour and our local informant, Goma is the collector and the annotator of this session.
Devi Rai is the third child of her parents. She is second elder sister of Khem. She has one elder sister and four brothers.
Puspa is the neighbour of all our target children in Chintang. She is our local assistant as well. She has passed class 10.
Khem Kumar Rai is our target child. He is the 6th child in his family. He has two elder sisters, three elder brothers and one younger sister.
Ram is the elder brother of Khem and the son of Kamala's mother's elder brother. He is the fifth child of his parents. He is a student. He reads in class two.
Raj Kumari Rai is the mother of Khem Kumar Rai. She has altogether 7 children. Sheis a house wife and a farmer.
She is the eldest sister of Khem. She is a student. She reads in class 9. She helps her parents in the household works and in farming.
