Description:This is the 6th session of the 11th monthly recording cycle of the child4 Man Kumar for the study 'Child Language Development'.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Man Kumar and Bisal (Kuluke play with earthballs as marbles. man Kumar and Kuluke play ploughing with real plough. Man Kumar digs something in the field talking with his grandfather. His grandfather cuts small sticks. Man Kumar is very active and talks more in this session. (recorded just downside of Man Kumar's home.) In this session, Total utterances = 671 Total utterances by Man Kumar = 220 Total Man Kumar's utterances - COMM =220-18=202 Others' utterance = 671 - 220 = 451 Others' utterance (-COMM) = 451-51=400 Adult to adult utterances (AA) = 46
Only a few utterances are in Nepali and the whole conversation is in Chintang.
Man Kumar is our target child, Ganga Kumari is his mother, Purna Bahadur is his grandfather, Bishal (Kuluk) is his best friend, Ilu and Indra are his elder ssiters, Khel Bahadur is his neighbour and Goma is the collector and the annotator of this session.
He is a neighbour of Man Kumars'. He is a farmer. He is staying only with his grandfather near to Man Kumar's maternal home. He is from Lengmuk clan.

Man Kumar is also called 'maĩla' and 'mote'. He is one the target children in our recording. He is the fifth child of his parents. He has 6 siblings. The child is very active, most of the time he plays with children.
He is also called Kuluke. He is the intimate friend of Man Kumar. He goes to school. He reads in class 1.
Ganga Kumari is the mother of the child4, Man Kumar. She has altogether 7 children. She is a housewife and a farmer. She is from Lengmuk clan and married to Puma.
Indra Kumari is the elder sister of the child, Man Kumar. She is the fourth child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class 1.
Khel Bahadur is the elder brother of Khem. He is the second child of his parents. He is a student. He studies in class 5. Sometimes he also assists in child language recording.
Ram is the youngest brother of Man Kumar. He is one of the twins.
Ilu is the elder sister of Man Kumar. She is the third child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class 3.
He is father's father of Man Kumar. He loves his grandchildren very much. He looks after his cattles.
