Description:This session is the first session of second recording cycle of the child3, Kalpana Rai child language language development study.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.http://www.cpdp.uzh.ch
Kalpana is staying at her home with her siblings in 8 a.m. in the morning. Her mother has gone away for grass. This is the very interesting session, in which, she talks with Puspa (neighbour). There are not special topics in their converstion but one remarkable topic is about meat (of pig) eaten and not given to their dog in the past. In this session, Total utterances = 447 Total utterances spoken by Kalpana =177 Total utterances (- COMM) spoken by Kalpana =177-35 = 142 Others' utterances in the presence of Kalpana = 447 - 177 =270 Kalpana speaks 4 utterances in Nepali.
The utterances in this session are in Chintang except a few utterances in Nepali.
Kalpana is the target child, Samjhana, Ranjana and Prithvi are his elder sibling, Puspa is our local informant and her neighbour and Goma is the collector and annotator of this session.

Ranjana is the elder sister of Kalpana. She is also called Ranje and Maĩli. She is the second child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class 1. She caretakes her sister Kalpana in her mother's absence. She is also the daughter of Kamala's father's younger brother.
Kalpana is the youngest child of her parents and the daugheter of Kamala's father's younger brother. She is also called 'kanchi' at her home. She has three eld She is also called Kalpe and Kanchi.
She is the neighbour of our target children's family. She is our local assistant as well. She has passed class 10. At home, she is called 'Sani Kanchi'.
Prithvi Narayan is the elder brother of Kalpana. He is also called Perte and Pecce. He is the only one son in his family. He sometimes goes to school with his elder siblings. He is Kamala's father's younger brother's son.
Samjhana is called 'Jethi' and 'Samje' in her family. She is the eldest sister of Kalpana. She is a student. She is reading in class 3. She helps her parents in the household works also.
