Description:This is the third session of the first monthly recording cycle of the child2 in the Child Language Development study.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.
This session contains the morning activities of the child2, Kamala. Her mother makes Kamala wash her face. Her mother gives Kamala water in a small bottle. All the utterances transcribed in the session are in Chintang. Only two -three words like Kanchi, Saĩli and pheri from Nepali language are mixing in the utterances.
Kamala is the target child, Phul Maya is her mother, Ganga, Raj Kumari, Ashu, Krishna are her elder siblings. Yogendra and Jitendra are her cousins. Jiwan Kumari are the neighbour children. Dutima is her aunt. Goma is the collector and the annotator of the session.
Phul Maya Rai is known as 'Khukkhangma kainli' in the village. She is Khukkhang and married to Sangpang. She is the mother of our target child, Kamala Rai. She has 6 daughters. She is a housewife and a farmer as well.
Ganga is the elder sister of Kamala Rai and Kalpana's father's elder brother's daughter. She is known as 'mahili (second female sibling)' in her family. She is the second child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class three.
Raj Kumari is known as 'thuli' in her family. She is the eldest sister of Kamala. She is literate but now she has left school. She helds her parents in the household works and in the farm.
Ash Kumari Rai is the elder sister of Kamala Rai and the daughter of Kalpana's father's elder brother. She is the fifth daughter of Kalpana's father's elder brother. She is known as 'antari' at her home. She is the fifth daughter of her parents.She often stays at home. She sometimes goes to the school.
Krishna Kumari is the elder sister of Kamala Rai and the daughter of Kalpana's father's elder brother. She is the third child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class two.
Kamala is the youngest daughter of her parents. She is the daughter of Kalpana's father's elder brother. She has five elder sisters. Kamala is known as 'kanchi' at her family and in the village.

Jitendra Rai is the neighbour of Kamala's and Kalpana's family. is the son of Kamala's and Kalpana's grandfather's younger brother's son. He is known as Jite in the village. His mother is Newar and his father is Chintang Rai. He is a student. He reads in class 1.
Yogengera is a neighbour of Kamala's and Kalpana's family. He is the son of Kamala's and Kalpana's grandfather's younger brother's son. In his village, he is known as Yoge. His mother is Newar and his father is Sangpang Rai. He is a student, He reads in class three.
Jivan Kumari Rai is a friend of Kamala's elder sister, Ganga. She is a student. She reads in class three.
Sun Kumari is the elder sister of Kamala and the daughter of Kalpana's father's elder brother. She is the fourth child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class one. She takes care of Kamala in her mother's absence.
Dutima is the daghter of Kamala' and Kalpana's grandfather's younger brother's daughter. Her house is next to Kamala's house. She does household works.
