Description:This is the sixth session of the fourth monthly recording cycle of the child1 Khem for the Child Language Development study.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.
Khem's elder brother sings Nepali rhymes, Khem also tries to sing. Khem plays with a book.

Khem is the target child, Raj Kumari is his mother, Ram Prasad is his father, Ram Kumar and Khel Bahadur are his elder brothers, Man Kumari Rai is the neighbour of Khem and local assistant and Goma is the collector and annotator of this session.
Ram is also called 'Rame' by his family members and his neighbours. the elder brother of Khem and the son of Kamala's mother's elder brother. He is the fifth child of his parents. He is a student. He reads in class two.
Raj Kumari Rai is the mother of Khem Kumar Rai. She has altogether 7 children. Sheis a house wife and a farmer. She is a daughter of Tele Rai and married to Khukkhang Rai.

Khem Kumar Rai is our target child. He is the 6th child in his family. He has two elder sisters, three elder brothers and one younger sister. His mother is Tele Rai and his father is Khukkhang Rai, both Tele and Khukkhang belong to Chintang clan. The mother tongue of his parents is Chintang.
Man Kumari is the neighbour of our target children families. She is also called as 'Saĩli' in her family and in her neighbourhood. She is our local assistant as well. She has passed class 10. She is Yupuchung (a clan of Bantawa).
He is a farmer. Sometimes, he works as a porter. He loves his children very much. He is literate. He is a Khukkhang Rai, a clan of Chintang.
Khel Bahadur is the elder brother of Khem. He is also called Khele in his family and in the neighbourhood. He is the second child of his parents. He is a student. He studies in class 5. Sometimes he also assists in child language recording. He is the son of Kamala's maternal uncle and neighbour of all our target children.
Gauman is a neighbour of Khem's family. He is also a friend of Khem's father. He is Ananda, a clan of Chintang Rai.
