Description:This is the 7th session of the 11th monthly recording cycle of the child4, Man Kumar for the study 'Child Language Development Study'.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Man Kumar and Centima play with plough. Man Kumar wants to play family telling 'ama' for himself and 'apa' for Susma. Children plough and prentends to sow maizes using stones. Later Man Kuimar and Sapana plough the field. Man Kumar is very active in this session. In this session, Total Utterances: 376 Utterances having no meanings: 3 Total Man Kumar's utterances: 86 Total Man Kumar's utterances (-communicators): 86-7 =79 Other's utterances to Man Kumar = 375 - 86 = 289 Other's utterances to Man Kumar (-communicators) = 289 - 19 = 270 Adult to Adult utterances (AA) =4
Only a few utterances are in Nepali and all the others are in Chintang language.
Man Kumar is our target child, Purna Bahadur is his grandfather, Ram, Ilu and Chandra are his siblings. Prmila, Rupa, Ruma, Bipana & Sapana are the neighbouring children.Goma is the collector and annotator of this session and Khel Bahadur is his neighbour and local assitant while recording this session.
Man Kumar is also called 'maĩla' and 'mote'. He is one the target children in our child language recording. He is the fifth child of his parents. He has 6 siblings. The child is very active, most of the time he plays with children. His mother is Lengmuk (a clan of Bantawa) and his father is Puma Rai.
She is the daughter of Kalpana's step mother. She lives in her maternal home. She is a student. She reads in class 3.
Susma is a neighbouring child of Man Kumar's parents. Her house is next to Man Kumars.
Chandra is called 'thuli' in her home and in her neighbourhood. She is the eldest sister of Man Kumar. She is a student. She is studying in grade 10 in school. She also helps her parents in household works and in farming.
She is the daughter of Man Kumar's She is also also the also the second elder sister of Saphal. She is a student. She reads in class one.
She is the neighbouring child of Man Kumar's family. She is the second daughter of her parents. She goes to school. She reads in class 1. She often comes to Man Kumar's to play.

Ilu is also called Mansu. She is the elder sister of Man Kumar. She is also a daughter of Saphal's mother's elder sister. She is the third child of her parents. She is a student. She reads in class 3. She helps her parents taking care of her younger siblings and in their household works.
Rupa is a friend of Man Kumar. Her house is the next to Man Kumar's. She often comes to Man Kumar's. Sometimes she goes to school with her elder siblings.
Sapana is the eldest daughter of Saphal and the daughter of Man Kumar's mother's younger sister. She is a student. She reads in class 4.
Khel Bahadur is the elder brother of Khem. He is the second child of his parents. He is a student. He studies in class 5. Sometimes he also assists in child language recording. He is the son of Kamala's maternal uncle and neighbour of all our target children. He is also called 'Khele' in his family and in his neighbourhood.
Ram is the youngest brother of Man Kumar. He is one of the twins.
He is a neighbour and friend of Saphal's father and father of Man Kumar's best friend, Kuluk.
He is father's father of Man Kumar. He loves his grandchildren very much. He looks after his cattles.
