Description:This is the 3rd session of the 5th recording cycle of child2, Dipkala for the study 'The Day in the Life of'.
The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country.http://www.cpdp.uzh.ch
Dipkala plays in the kitchen and comes out of the kitchen and goes to play in the sun. she plays with stics saying: tit - tit.
All the speakers speak Chintang language in general.
Chandrakala Rai is the mother's elder sister of Dipkala. She is unmarried and stays in her parents' home. Most often she takes care of Dipkala.
Maya Devi Rai is the mother of Dipkala, the target child in the study, Child Language Acquisition.
Lasu is a neighbour of all our targeted children's families. She is known as Renuka also. She is also called as 'majhaule kanchi' by her family members and some of her neighbours. She occasionallly assists in the recordings of child language in Chintang. She has been working as a research collaborator helping with transcriptions and translations.

Dipkala is the eldest child of her parents. She has just born younger sister.
She lives in her maternal home in Mulgaun, Chintang VDC, Ward No. 3. She reads in class 3.
