| Description: | Forth experiment of the MesoSpace Spatial language and cognition in Mesoamerica project realized by the DoBeS Yurakaré documentation project, which goal is to measure the productivity and mappig of meronyms for novel objects (chunches), “employing a set of object of novel shape, in the sens that they (or at least the more complex among them) do not resemble any objects or animals recognized in either Mesomamerican or Euro-American culture. [… The task] looks at reference to locations defined with respect to the novel objects, exploring the relation between meronymies and spatial frames of reference” (Bohnemeyer J. 2008: 15). | |
| Cuarto experimento del proyecto MesoSpace: Spacial language and cognition in Mesoamerica (MesoSpace: lenguage spacial y cognición en Mesoamérica) realizado por el proyecto DoBeS yurakaré cuyo objectivo es medir la productividad y el uso de merónimos para nuevos objectos (chunches). Se llama merónimo a un termino usado generalmente para las partes del cuerpo cuando se aplica metaforicamente a otros objectos. La tarea de este experimento consiste “en el uso de un conjunto de objectos de formas nuevas, en el sentido de que no se parecen a ningun objecto o animal conocidos ni en la cultura mesoamericana ni en la cultura occidental (por lo menos para los más complejos de ellos)”(Bohnemeyer J. 2008: 15). Este experimento se propone estudiar la manera en que se puede ubicar una posición en relación a los objectos nuevos, explorando así el vínculo entre meronimia y marcos de referencias espaciales. | ||
| The aim of the project is to provide people from various backgrounds (speakers and their political representatives, developers of educational material, NGO’s, language planners, linguists and anthropologists) with a database of the Yurakaré language that can serve a variety of purposes, even purposes we do not foresee at this moment. The database aims in the first place at documenting the Yurakaré language in all its diversity, but it will also include data that give an idea of the context of the language: personal histories, illustrations of everyday practices, Yurakaré testimonies about their own situation and the challenges they are facing today. In this manner we want to build a database that not only includes linguistic material, but that also tries to embed these data in the larger context of the current Yurakaré society. | ||
| El proyecto tiene por objetivo proporcionar una base de datos del idioma yurakaré que corresponda a las necesidades de una variedad de personas (hablantes y sus representantes políticos, pedagogos responsables de producción de material escolar, ONG's, lingüistas, antropólogos) y que sirva a varias funciones, académicas o no, incluso funciones que no prevemos en este momento. Si la base de datos está en primer lugar dirigida a documentar el idioma yurakaré en su diversidad, incorpora también datos contextuales, testimonios, ilustraciones de prácticas cotidianas, discursos de los yurakaré acerca de su propia situación y de los desafío que viven hoy en día, proporcionando así una documentación que incluye el material lingüístico en el mundo vivido actual de los yurakaré. | ||
