Description:ENGLISH: Survey of the organization of Trumai families of modern and old times. Besides the genealogical trees themselves, the survey includes the various names each individual had during his/her life (a Trumai individual changes his/her name during the various phases of life). This material was elaborated by the researchers Raquel Guirardello-Damian and Aurore Monod Becquelin in 1997, based on information provided by Trumai consultants interviewed by them. ----- PORTUGUÊS: Levantamento da organização das famílias Trumai dos tempos atuais e antigos. Além das árvores genealógicas propriamente ditas, apresenta-se os vários nomes que cada indivíduo teve ao longo da vida (um indivíduo Trumai troca de nome durante as várias fases de sua vida). Este material foi elaborado pelas pesquisadores Raquel Guirardello-Damian e Aurore Monod Becquelin em 1997, com base em informações fornecidas por informantes Trumai entrevistados por elas.
The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc.
Study on the organization of Trumai families.
The study is presented in Portuguese. The names of the members of the families are in Trumai.
Various consultants contributed to this survey. One important contributor was Speaker2.
Speaker2 is considered one of the best speakers of the Trumai language. He also has strong knowledge about various aspects of the Trumai culture. He has been living in the city of Canarana since 1996, because of health problems. He lives with his wife and kids. Both his parents were Trumai. Speaker2 is married to a Kamayurá woman, who also speaks Trumai. He is middle-aged, has various kids and grand-kids.
Raquel is a Brazilian linguist. She has been working with the Trumai people since 1989. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University (Houston, Texas, U.S.A).
