Description: | Number stimuli: Signer describes a picture with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or more objects in it to the addressee, who in turn points the described picture out on an addressee sheet. This sheet displays 20 pictures. The target picture may or not may be on the sheet. The number stimuli consist of three sets.The screen goes black while the signer describes it to the addressee. The addressee chooses the correct picture and shows it to the camera. The addresee does not see the screen. | |
This corpus collects Turkish sign language TID data from children and also their parents. For this project, TID signers were recorded performing different tasks narratives of short picture stories/cartoon clips and engaging in free conversation. These recordings and their annotations are stored in this corpus. | ||
Berke was born deaf. His parents are deaf. His grandparents from mother are deaf. His grandparents from father are hearing. He has no other sibling. He has a CI implemanted at the age of 4. He is attending a primary school for the hearing children. He is also attending a rehabilitation center for 3 years (twice a week). The primary language at home is Turkish sign language. He uses his left hand to write and to sign. | ||
She was born deaf. She has deaf parents and a deaf sister. She started signing from birth. She is a high school graduate. She attended a primary school for the deaf and the high school for the hearing. She used to have wide connections with the deaf communtiy in Istanbul before she got married. Now she mainly stays at home and doesnt work. Her grandparents are hearing (both from mother and from father). She uses her right hand to sign. | ||
Hukumran is a hearing person. He is a fluent signer. He prentended to be deaf in the experiments. He checked the order of tasks and gave instructions when necessary. | ||
Beyza is a hearing person. She recorded the sessions and conducted the experiments. She mainly used TID and tried not to use speech. | ||
