Description:		This story was recorded in Amedzofe at a meeting with 10 elderly people. The 10 people were divided into two groups and we talked with each group for an hour. In the first session Sammy interviewed the first five people about what has changed since they were young and what they think Amedzofe will be like in the future. In the second session, Sammy asked the other five people to tell their life stories and then asked if there were other stories or folk tales they could tell. This story was part of the second session in Amedzofe. Gilbert Dagadu tells his life story. The recording of this story has been transcribed by Manfred, but has not been typed up.
		The Avatime project aims to describe and document Avatime. The researchers involved in this project are Rebecca Defina and Saskia van Putten. The project included fieldwork in Ghana in 2008 and was completed in 2009. Outcomes of the project are: (1) audio and video recordings of different genres, of which 13,5 hours have been transcribed and annotated, (2) an Avatime-English wordlist, (3) grammar notes and (4) two Master's theses, one on the expression of motion in Avatime (Saskia van Putten) and one on aspect and mood in Avatime (Rebecca Defina).
		Gilbert Dagadu tells his life story, aided by questions from Sammy. Wisdom then translates to English. The English translation is only included on the audio recording.

		Gilbert Dagadu tells the story, Sammy asks him questions, Wisdom translates to English. Also present were Saskia, Rebecca, Awua, Yawa, Mamavi and Peace. Manfred has transcribed and translated this story on paper, but it has not been typed up.
		Gilbert Dagadu is one of the people we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. He was born in Amedzofe, one of eight children. He had no formal education and wanted to learn a trade but no one would back him. He married and had children and to support his family he started working as a steelburner and a blacksmith. He also farmed maize, cassava and yam.
		Manfred Apati is an old man (65+) living in Fume. He is a member of the language committee founded by the GILLBT (SIL) group. He has followed a few linguistics / translation courses with GILLBT. He writes Avatime very well and has independently transcribed and translated many recordings for us.
		Sammy was one of our main informants for this project. He was born in Vane and has lived there most of his life. He has also spent some time in Accra. He speaks good English and Ewe.
		Wisdom was our contact person in the village Amedzofe and organised a gathering with a group of elders for us. He grew up in Amedzofe and has spent 11 years travelling through other African countries as a missionary. He has now trained as a priest.
		The recording was made using a Marantz PMD flash recorder. The recording is mono, 16 bit and 48 kHz. The audio recording of this story includes the English translation.
		The recording was made using a JVC Everio digital video camera. The file is saved in MPEG2 format with 3400 kbps video encoding rate and 256 kbps audio encoding rate. The aspect ratio is 4:3 and the size of the video is 352 x 576. It is recorded in PAL format. The video recording of this story does not include the English translation.
		This story was told within a session in which 5 people told stories. The stories recorded in this session, in the order in which they were told, are: - life_KD - life_YD - life_AD - life_PA - life_MAf - ablabe_AD-YD - dog_PA For each of these stories, there is an audio recording and a video recording.
