Contributor:Surya Walɨŋ Rai
Tyko Dirksmeyer
Contributor (speaker):Gita Pardan
Date:2010-03-20
Description:A classical Pear Story, recorded at Surya Walɨŋ Rai's house. Gita Pardan tells the story to Surya Walɨŋ. The record deviates from common practice in that the listener was allowed to give comments and ask questions.
The aim of this project is to further document and analyse the Chintang language. Chintang is spoken by some 4000 to 5000 Rai in the Chhintang Village Development Committee (VDC), which is located in the hills of Dhankuta district (Eastern Nepal). The project builds upon results of the Chintang and Puma Documentation Project (CPDP), which ended in 2009.
A classical Pear Story, recorded at Surya Walɨŋ Rai's house. Gita Pardan tells the story to Surya Walɨŋ.
Gita Pardan's mother tongue is Newari. Her Chintang is very good but not perfect, although judged so by native speakers.
