Description: | After a night of dancing, a group gathers to tell stories. Story tellers and people of the audience are changing, people are leaving and new people are arriving.
The Bakola project aims at documenting the Bakola/Bagyeli language as it is spoken in everyday conversation. The linguistic documentation of Bakola will focus on three major domains: 1. audio recordings (narrative, procedural, hortative, expository, conversations, epics, songs, folktales, proverbs, etc.) 2. video recordings (dances, storytelling events, songs, procedural discourse, and basic conversational situations such as greetings, daily activities, food gathering, etc.) 3. the elicitation of specialized vocabulary (plant and animal names, herbalist and hunting techniques as well as stories, music and rituals to build relationships among humans and with the spiritual world)
After a night of dancing, a group gathers in front of the chief's house and tells stories. The story tellers and the audience is constantly changing. LeBwDi tells a story while the audience is still commenting on the story even though they are clearly tired from a night of dancing.
