| The aim of the project is to provide a rich linguistic and ethnographic documentation of two highly endangered but almost totally undocumented languages in eastern Nepal, Chintang and Puma. These languages belong to the Kiranti family of Tibeto-Burman. Chintang is spoken by the Chintang Rai in Chintang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhankuta district. Puma is spoken by the Puma Rai in Diplung, Mauwabote and Pauwasera VDCs, to the south of Khotang bazar in Khotang district. Both these districts are situated in the eastern hilly part of the country. | ||
| In this session, the ngapong performs the nuwagi ritual. The ancestors are offered the new riped grains especially the rice. The actual way of worshipping the ancestors is the content of this session. | ||
| Puma mundhum language is used in this session, in some sitiations, it is also used Nepali language. | ||
| MMR is the resident of Beltar VDC. He is also a ngapong and the main informant of our data collections. He migrated from Devisthan VDC. | ||
| He is the research assistant for ethnography in the Puma team. | ||
| MR is a priest 'ngapong' of the Puma community. He is from Devisthan-3, his clan is Hadiri. He is our main consultant for rituals and cultural information and recording. Being a priest he is well respected in the community. | ||
