Coverage: | South Sudan | |
Date: | 2009-08-24 | |
Description: | The singer praises the Dinka people, and the unique way God created them. He compares their courage to that of a buffalo. He also praises the leaders of the Southern Sudan Government and the leaders of the armed forces. He encourages the Southerners to unite and to follow the words of Salva Kiir Mayardit, the 1st Vice President of Sudan and the President of Southern Sudan. He also praises Mrs. Rabecca Nyandeng, the wife of John Garang, for her powerful speech, as she addressed the people after the death of Garang. The singer also praises two chiefs who helped to restore calm after Garang’s death. At that time, the Southerners in Khartoum and in the South thought that Garang was killed, rather than that the aeroplane had crashed by accident, so they wanted revenge. The singer also says that John Garang did not die the way William Deng died (i.e., before the job was finished). Instead, Garang had already completed the struggle. | |
