| Description: | This recording was made during a community-wide feast in the Nanti community of Montetoni on the Camisea River in southeastern Peru. During feasting, participants form groups and chant together for many hours. Group chanting is characterized by fixed formulas, which the whole group chants, combined with extemporaneous poetry, which is intercalated with the formulas by individual performers. This is a recording of two little girls performing the chant formula ‘yojina yojina.’ The two girls were sitting with the researcher and spontaneously demonstrated their knowledge of the chant to the researcher. | |
| Esta grabación fue hecho durante una fiesta comunal en Montetoni, una comunidad Nanti ubicada en las cabeceras del Río Camisea en la parte sureste del Perú. Cuando festejan, los participantes agregan en grupos y cantan todos juntos por muchas horas. Los cantos grupales se caracterizan por fórmulas fijadas, cantadas por el grupo entero, combinadas con poesías improvisidas y alternadas con las fórmulas por participantes individuales. Esta es una grabación de dos niñas cantando la fórmula ‘yojina yojina.’ Las dos niñas estaban sentadas con la investigadora y espontaneosamente demostaron su conocimiento del canto. | ||
