| PU6 is a forty-four year old native Tsafiki speaker. He has only had one year of formal education but is literate in both Tsafiki and Spanish, and has worked for more than twenty years translating and transcribing Tsafiki texts. He first learned to read and write Tsafiki with the SIL linguist Bruce Moore and than worked with the Banco Central of Guayaquil with Robert Mix on a documentation project. Tsafiki is his first and dominate language, although he is also fluent in the local dialect of Spanish. He is married and has two children. He is extremely competent and can manage all the computer programs used in this project and has a basic understanding of linguistic analysis. | ||
| S1 is 70 year old native speaker of Tsafiki with a limited knowledge of Spanish. She was born in Chiwilpe but has lived in Cogomita for most of her adult life. She is a trained storyteller and has a great deal of knowledge concerning Tsachi culture. She has no formal education. She is married to U1 and has eight children, several grandchildren and several great-grandchilsren.. | ||
