| Description: | ENGLISH: The Trumai Indians mix their traditional knowledge about bees with Whitemen's technologies (box for producing honey). The video explores this topic: the Indians got to the woods to get native bees that live inside of a tree. They cut the tree and open it. Then they extract the honey and the wax from it. After that, they put the wax in a wood box specially used for producing honey. Then they collect the bees and put them inside of the box. The video, which shows the various steps of this work, was taped by a Trumai young man. ----- PORTUGUÊS: Os índios Trumai mesclam seus conhecimentos tradicionais sobre abelhas com tecnologica mais recentes (roupas e caixas próprias para apicultura). O video explora este tópico: os índios vão ao mato buscar abelhas nativas que vivem dentro de uma árvore. Cortam a árvore e a abrem. A seguir, extraem o mel e a cera que se formaram dentro dela. Depois colocam a cera dentro de uma caixa de maderia própria para apicultura. Por fim, coletam as abelhas e as colocam dentro da caixa. O video, que mostra as várias etapas deste trabalho, foi gravado por um jovem Trumai. | |
| The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc. | ||
