De taalsituatie van Surinaamse kinderen op de basisschool in Nederland
Contributor (speaker):Basri
Coverage:Netherlands
Description:Recording took place during primary school hours (08:30 AM-03:30 PM) at a primary school in the classroom. This was recorded between 1984-1986. Unclear whether Dorian de Haan was present. Buzzing in the back.
Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch.
A boy is giving a talk in class about Inuits.
Basri is of Turkish origin and was born in turkey. He moved to the Netherlands when he was 6, and he has been living in the Netherlands for 7 years now. So he is about 13. With his parents he always speaks Turkish, with his younger brother he speaks both Dutch and Turkish. He finds that in certain situations Dutch is easier (school) and in other Turkish (at home, in Turkey). However, in general Dutch is easier than Turkish. Same boy as in 38A & 40D.
