Description:Side A: tape 2: Jeff Leer and Jim Kari interview Bruce Starlight about Tone assimilation and Enlitics. 31:27 Linguistic consultation session involving Bruce Starlight, Gary Donovan, and Jeff Leer in Fairbanks, AK, in the summer of 1996. Continuation of ANLC0746B, with ongoing discussion of Tsuut'ina post-verbal enclitics and suffixes. Recording begins with examples of the enclitics -dà, -(i)daa, -gù, -gùu, and -ìsìi (start6m30), then considers -la vs. nominalizer -à vs. -laà (8m3015m00), with Bruce Starlight offering an example of the mirative meaning of -la (13m0015m00). Brief discussion of "the one who was called" (16m4517m30), followed by question formation with -ìlà and -ìlaa with nominalized and non-nominalized verbs (18m3024m45). Recording ends with a short discussion of the verb "become" (28m45end). Side B: Tones continued. 31:25 Linguistic consultation session involving Bruce Starlight, Gary Donovan, Jeff Leer, and Jim Kari in Fairbanks, AK, in the summer of 1996. (Recording date unclear. At 24m18, Jeff Leer mentions that it is 11th day of the month, while at 0m34, Bruce Starlight states that this meeting was taking place on a Sunday. Since July 11, 1996, was a Thursday, the date in the earier ANLA metadata must be incorrect. This recording was most likely made on August 11, 1996, which was a Sunday. Not a direct continuation of ANLC0747A.) Recording begins with Bruce Starlight offering a prayer (only first few words recorded; start0m45). From 1m001m15, Jeff Leer comments on the conative/'half-transitive' prefix in "eat", followed by exploration of associated paradigms with Bruce Starlight, Jeff Leer, and Jim Kari (1m3011m15). From 5m307m00, Jeff Leer comments on the vocalic reflexes of Proto-Athabaskan *d- and *l- classifiers in Tsuut'ina yi-perfective paradigms (and again briefly from 16m1016m20). From 11m1514m30, Jeff Leer discusses tone assimilation rules paralleling Navajo and transitional verb forms. Partial paradigms for "do it; own it" (15m3023m15), followed by discussion of "say it, thus" (28m45end). Comments: Tsuutina formerly known as Sarcee. Description provided by Chris Cox, 11/19/2015.
