The lagatoi (lakatoi) is a large ceremonial sailing canoe used in the annual Hiri trading voyages of clay pots and sago between the Motu and Gulf peoples in the Central and Gulf provinces. Hehona is a Motuan chant song about the lagatoi (lakatoi) during these Hiri trade expeditions. The contents are of cultural significance and details of the Motuan speakers with the interactive discussions are to be determined. (Steven Gagau, June 2026). Language as given: Motu | |
