Description:Kept in TDK C60 box 'Cassettes ABC Aboriginal Music' 4 cassette tapes no labelling on boxes 'compliments language centre' unbranded C60 cassettes. -- Note dated 25/5/78 about transferring Elkin's R to R to cassette -- 1. Side 1 Prog 1-2 -- Notes states: re: Recording Aboriginal (Australian) Music on Cassettes. Mr McAndrew advises that 24 1 hour cassettes would be needed for the transfer from tape to cassette if the series as catalogued is used. This would be a lengthy operation and very costly. He suggests that a selection be mnade by Professor Elkin which would form a compact study of three or four cassettes which could be advertised. This would not preclude the making of a master set of cassettes which would contain all of the music at present available on tape, and which would no doubt be required for study by music departments of universities. Mr McAndrew suggests also that Prefessir Elkin's ABC series of talks and music examples be made available on cassette for use in schools and libraries. The Language Laboratory could delete sections that need amendments and can re-record comment by Professor Elkin. The orginal talks are on cassettes at present held in Professor Elkin's room (filing cabinet). Therefore: Mr McAndrew could be asked to quote for the work incolved in a complete master set on cassette as well as a small selection of the music. A.B.C. could be asked for permission to sell cassettes (as amended) of the broadcast series.. Language as given:
