PNG The New Lakwas Stringband is a legendary group from the Port Moresby area, renowned for their contribution to the classic Motuan string band sound. The remake inspired by the cover was sung by Gwadus Band of Hanuabada village, NCD. During the mid-1970s Port Moresby, group helped define the sound of blending traditional Motuan melodic patterns with the instrumentation of the era's string bands. Their recordings are cherished for their cultural significance.
