Bibliographic Citation:Wilhelmina Lanu, Danerek, H. Stefan, Sopune, Pitu, Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan, Sopune, Pitu; 2023-08-21; Genre: Weaving. Title: 'Weavers’ histories and methods' (7. Wilhelmina Lanu. b. late 1940s). Interview with Wilhelmina Lanu, made in her family's home (Lena Paji's) in Dhutu, Cawalo domain, 21 Aug 2023. The recording, audio and video, was done by Pitu Sopune and SD (the editor) in the late morning. Lanu tells about her experience of weaving and life from when she was a child. Her mother used only natural dyes and tied only Palu'e patterns. She also used the vertical warp rack and wooden sticks, 'niku', instead of today's bobbin spool, 'dhibo' (bamboo tube with yarn stick to throw the weft). The methods Lanu describes are largely the same as described by Longge Warene (SD1-330). The recording is so long but has valuable details. Also, she says that the Loka cloth used to be obtained from the Kéwa in Wawo, Sikka (Loka lé mai Wawo, ata Kéwa), similar to other sources. All are Sikka; Maumere, Geliting (Pajo), the Hewokloang. The recording and the annotation work was supported by a Firebird Foundation Supplemental Research Grant for the Documentation of Oral Literature and Traditional Ecological Knowledge.; wav file at 44.1 KHz 16 bits, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;https://hdl.handle.net/10125/110566.
