Bibliographic Citation:Danerek, H. Stefan, Sophune, Pidhu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Rosa Mboi; 2016-06-03; Genre: Medicine/huru. Rosa Mboi, a person from kampong Hona speaking with the beautiful Hona dialect, was recorded by Pidhu Sophune at her house, kampung Uwa, 3 Juni 2016, using the AT2020 mic. Pidhu recorded ten tales and three 'huru' (symptom-disease and their cures) that Mama Rosa has inherited from her parents. 'Huru poti' (huru bottle) is first a curse hung, and "activated", in the plantation, a bottle is hung over the copra or in the coconut or manggo trees. When someone then steals from the crop they come down with "huru bottle". Symptoms: burning fever from inside. Cure: She takes the bottle, fills it with water, and rolls it over the patient's body. Mama Rosa also utters a traditional prayer to help dispel the curse/disease, command it to go away, west where the 'kalalindi' and 'ba'i ria' vines grow. In addition a hen is sacrificed ('lali'). The patient quickly recovers from the fever after the bloodletting of the hen. Rosa inherited this huru (bottle) and huru 'dhelo' (egg) from her father, and huru welu (candle nut) from her mother.; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/47809.
