Title:Mentoring a Mother Tongue Speaker in PNG
Abstract:In this paper I provide examples of my own experience in mentoring a young Kewa man to understand aspects of his own language, and some parts of English grammar as well. All of us who are fieldworkers and have been involved in some aspect of teaching, such as literacy or translation, know what such mentoring involves. We not only teach people how to use materials, including the translated Scriptures, but we also demonstrate how teaching can be done when using the materials.
