| Description: | This video show reel and the accompanying materials were prepared as part of a joint art exhibit together with Hanna Haaslahti and that was curated by Pierre Coinde. The exhibit was a video installation in two parts. Hanna Haaslahti's installation opens up a realtime view at the entrance gates of Flickr's image management and sharing site. The installation attempts to give a glimpse of this massive flow by randomly harvesting bursts of images projected on the gallery wall. Sophie Salffner's and Maria Tzika's video brings together snippets from raw footage collected during the language documentation poject. Visitors to the exhibition are not Ikaan speakers and are driven by a desire to understand and find commonality, focussing on gestures, facial expressions and other clues, to create meaning from what they see or hear. The accompanying information sheets are a press release and an information sheet giving background to language endangerment, language documentation and the Ikaan language documentation project. | |
