| Description: | David (Prince) Antonio gave an eye witness account of a dramatic event on Tobi in December 2007 involving a miraculous (or at least near-miraculous) rescue at sea. Peter W. Black recorded Prince in the HOPE conference room, in Madalaii, Koror, PW on October 7, 2014. One person entered the room during this session and left without saying anything. | Documenting Ramari Hatohobei (literally the Tobian language of Tobi), a severely endangered Micronesian language. Tobi is one of the Southwest Islands of the Republic of Palau, a Micronesian nation in the western Pacific. Severely endangered, Tobian is currently spoken by approximately 150 people. Tobian and the dialects of Sonsorol, Merir, and Pulo Anna, the other three Southwest Islands, are closely related to the languages spoken in the outer islands of Yap and Chuuk. | ||
