In this dance, the older initiated young men (muthirinik) appear in the arena from the secret hideout where they leave the pre-inititaes They come laden with the sinendet around their necks. Their number coincides with that of the initiates and they are joined by the rest of the community regardless of age or gender. The dance is vigorous and jovial, to display their cultural pride and promote the virtues of undergoing circumcision. | |
