Description:SUK1 was wondering about the phonetic nature of the alveolar fricative, especially regarding the question of whether it is [s] or [sʰ]. Also, he was interested in looking at formants of the word [mɕʰigə], 'what', to see whether there really is no vowel between the first two consonants. Furthermore, he wondered about the quality of lavalier mic recordings with respect to their clarity for formant analysis. Obviously, the recording is of minor value to this project, as it is recorded from a linguist and not a native speaker pronouncing these words.
