Description:SUK1 invites YYU1 and SYO1 into the kitchen of the Sinchon Eastern Elders' Centre to talk about plants people used to eat in the past. First, SYO1 sings 'Odolttolgi' (more popularly known as Odolttogi), a folk song typically identified as Jejuan, although the lyrics themselves are in Korean. She stops singing as she says how coarse her voice has become. After explaining the lyrics to SUK1, they go on chatting about local, edible plants that come to their minds. In particular, they mention Korean WIld Chive [Allium monanthum] and sheperd's-purse [Capsella bursa-pastoris], and explains what they look like, how one can eat them, and where one can buy them in town. They also talk about nowdays people eat all sorts of herbs and vegetables, and mention Artemisia princeps, or sesame leaves as an example. As both speakers' language is particularly conservative, it is worth having a look at this recording. However, it is interesting to note how even here, speakers accomodate to SUK1 by using more Korean forms towards the end.
