Description:While talking to HGS1 and HYJ1, SUK1 decided to do a spontaneous recording on his phone as the ladies were talking about the calendar and the days of the month. The way elderly people in the Jeju region count the days of the lunar calendar is interesting, as contrary to (probably young people's) Korean counting system entirely resorts to Sino-Korean words and numbers, yet the Jejuan counting system uses a 'native Korean' (or better, a 'native Jejuan') system that only uses a few Sino-Korean expressions. In fact, when people talk about solar calendars, they often use Sino-Korean numbers, but the native word nal for 'day' instead of il, which would be the Sino-Korean counterpart. Apart from number counting, particular days of the month or of the year have special names (for example, for full moon), and on top of that, it is interesting to see how the number words for the first ten days of a month are suffixed with t͡ɕʰo-, which is a Sino-Korean word for 'beginning'.
